Racial Harmony Day
Celebrating Racial Harmony Day
Racial Harmony Day falls on 21st July and the People's Association (PA) celebrates 64 years of promoting racial harmony in Singapore.
Established on 1 July 1960 as a statutory board to promote racial harmony and social cohesion in Singapore, our mission is to spark and nurture community participation for a caring and united Singapore.
Through the years, we have set up a network of over 2,000 grassroots organisations (GROs), 100+ Community Clubs and five Community Development Councils, that work towards fostering a sense of togetherness and understanding.
Our community activities and programmes serve as common spaces for people of different races, languages, religions, and socio-economic backgrounds to interact and build relationships.
These programmes are organized at the local level by grassroots organisations, aimed at raising the level of understanding among neighbours of different races, contributing to the fabric of Singapore's society.
In addition, PA has been proactive in organizing arts and cultural programmes that showcase and celebrate Singapore's rich multi-cultural heritage. The annual Chingay Parade, an iconic event, brings diverse groups of people together and showcases the rich multi-cultural diversity of Singapore through a parade of exciting performances and colorful floats. This event highlights Singapore's unique multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan cultures, offering a treasured glimpse into the dynamism of Singapore's vibrant multi-culturalism and exciting global cultures.
Come together with your neighbours to celebrate Racial Harmony Day with a line up of Racial Harmony Day events and be a part of our ongoing efforts to promote racial harmony and social cohesion in Singapore.
